I love Christmas. The lights, the tree, the amazing food, the family, the traditions – and the general feeling of peace and goodwill to all men that generally descends upon one during this most Happy and Festive of Seasons. But I hate New Year’s Eve.
The 2010 Fifa World Cup. Our World Cup. It happened right here, in our stadiums, in our towns, in our country. Can you say “I was there”? I can. Now, looking back, there are lots of things I would have done differently: I would have made plans to get to Durban and Cape Town to their awesome Fan Fests; I would have got out and partied with the tourists more; I would have blogged about it much more, and earlier (ahem). But now that it’s been and gone, there’s nothing else to do but look back, and smile. Here, in no particular order (I lie. It’s chronological), are my top five moments / happenings / memories of the World Cup That Was.
